3rd Annual Preemie Sleeper drive
Why November Matters to Us
November holds a special place in my heart. Not only were my twins born in November, but it is also World Prematurity Awareness Month (Nov 1–30th). Three years ago, as my twins celebrated their first birthday, I knew I wanted to give back in a meaningful way. That’s when the Preemie Sleeper Drive was born.
During our time in the NICU, my babies were often dressed in oversized sleepers — sometimes 0–3 month or even larger sizes. It made them look even smaller and more fragile, and it broke my heart to see how few properly fitting preemie sleepers were available. The ones they did have were often worn and tattered, simply because donations are the only source the NICU has for these items.
I thought: why not put together a drive to help fill this gap? In our first year, nearly 90 preemie sleepers were donated. Last year, almost 80 sleepers made their way to families in need. Each one is a little act of comfort for both babies and parents navigating those first fragile weeks.
How You Can Help
There are two ways to take part in this year’s drive:
Donate Preemie Sleepers
New or gently used preemie-sized sleepers are welcome
Arrange a local pick-up by contacting me directly (details below)
Make a Monetary Donation
Use the donation box below to give any amount
Funds will go directly toward purchasing brand-new preemie sleepers
What Happens after the drive?
The donation window is open until November 30th. In December, my family and I will deliver all sleepers to the NICU at the Health Sciences Centre and St Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB.
Together, we can help make NICU stays a little more comfortable for the tiniest fighters and their families. Thank you for support, it means more than you know!
